How come christianity isn't working for me?

I have been going to church for 5 years. I converted to catholicism a year ago and I thought maybe that was what was missing. I just feel like Christianity really brings me down. It drives me crazy to hear people say stuff like...God spoke to me and said. and the virgin mary came to me and said. I just don't get it because i have been fighting my skepticism for five years here and it has been a roller coaster. I never feel full and it just isn't making sense. I get bored praying the rosary and stuff like that. I just feel like the hail mary doesn't mean anything to me. Is it possible that it is just not for me? I just want some christianity to explain these things to me. How come god turns some people into looneys and not others? I swear some people find Jesus and turn into these super smiley intrusive people that try and invite you to their church every time they open their mouth, it seems like brainwashing to me. On the other hand their are christians who are old and evil.
