What is Better: Techno or Rap?

Me and my friend are arguing about which genre is superior. I keep telling him that rap is a bad influence with just rhythmic talking and techno has more intricate musical elements, but on the other hand he says rap is real and tells a story with lyrics (which most techno lacks), and techno is just a bunch of beep-boop-bop. He even thinks that idiotic myth that Daft Punk stole Harder Better Faster Stronger from Kanye West! What can I do to make him realize techno is music!?
