Question For Catholics & Christians?

I am Christian but not Catholic I also wondered the same thing because a lot of Christians dont pray to mary and i was told this. They pray to mary because she is Gods mom and they believe that she is the closest person to God. They believe you cant pray straight to God like other Christian denominations so they go to the next best thing to pray to God for them
